At the end of July our sweet girl turned 3 and we planned a super special backyard barbecue for her with family and friends. Check out the photos from Brynn’s Ice Cream Sundae Birthday Party!
We had gorgeous (giant!) confetti balloons and a tassel garland sent to us from Twigs & Twirls. They really tied the party colours together and B was SO excited. After her party she kept them in her room until we had to pack them for our move. I am excited to put her tassel garland back up in her room when our house is done renovations. It’s so bright and happy! I also taped some streamers, paper fans, and balloons to the wall to create a fun backdrop for the food table.
For food we stuck with chips, potato and caesar salads, fruit & veggie trays, and then we barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers. Big time faves and SO yummy. Not to mention easy to prepare or have loved ones bring along. We had cute ice cream cone cups to put utensils and fresh carnations in.
Twigs & Twirls also provided us with adorable paper straws to tie the party colours in. We got this beautiful collage of Brynn (from each year of her life) made up from Tiny Prints, which is also where we got her invitations printed. We just love Tiny Prints for all our paper and photo needs! Check out the invitation below. Also, note the custom URL for RSVPs that Tiny Prints provides at no extra charge when you print your invites through them. That made everything SO easy, both for the guests and for me.
Everyone loved the food, and it was honestly the easiest thing to serve aside from maybe pizza. However I think we had TOO much, but isn’t that always the way!? After dinner everyone watched Brynn open her presents, which was probably her favourite part.
Everyone also had a blast on the GIANT princess palace blow up castle that we got from Fergus Bounce! They came to Guelph where the party was held (30 minutes from Fergus) and set it all up for us. All we did was provide the space and a hose (for the water slide part). All the kids loved it!
After our tummies settled a bit it was time for the MAIN EVENT – the ICE CREAM! We set up an ice cream sundae bar with ALL the trimmings we could think of. I dipped cones in melted chocolate and added sprinkles. I made B a cake with a melting ice cream cone on top (thanks, Pinterest!). I also had some adorable ice cream sundae cupcakes and cookies made by my cousin, who is an incredibly talented baker.
Seriously, how amazing are these? I truly cannot get over her talent! We will be using her for any events we have moving forward..
Okay, enough spam of dessert treats before I get a craving and take it out on our stash of Halloween candy! hehe.
Picking toppings was a tough decision! But after everyone enjoyed their ice cream we played some more and opened our treat bags. I filled them with ice cream shaped bubble blowers, cherry shaped candies, glow sticks, and ice cream cones filled with cotton candy. I really tried to stick to the theme!
I think everyone had a really fun time, and the sundae bar was a hit. Next time I think I’ll axe the cake, though, because we had MORE than enough for our bellies with the ice cream (and ice cream shaped treats)! We didn’t even end up cutting that cake until the next day at home…!
That gorgeous “we all scream for ice cream” cake topper was made by Rustic Daisy Designs. Shop owner Quinn Nicole worked with me to tie in the colours and the theme, and it came together perfectly. I absolutely loved it and have it saved for another day when we feel like having an ice cream party (which I am pretty sure we always will!).
Brynn’s birthday dress was a tutu dress from Old Navy. We accessorized it with a rainbow bow from Rain & Honey Bows, and sweet bracelets from Goldy Fox. She felt like a princess. She loves her bracelets so much. She wears them for special occasions or when she feels fancy, and she takes very special care of them. Check out how precious they are:
This picture is of B touching our friend’s baby belly, and it’s giving me all the feels. That sweet bump is now an adorable 4 month old bean who we love very much. Time moves all too quick.
The biggest thanks to all of the shops and companies who helped me tie this theme together. I would be lost without you! Be sure to check out their pages, they mean the world to us.
We had so much fun celebrating our special girl on her 3rd birthday!
