Thank you to Dyson for partnering with me for this post.
I received this product in exchange for my honest review. As always, all thoughts are 100% my own!
Does anyone else feel like their toddler is like a giant gerbil? Mine just LOVES to nibble nibble nibble on crackers and other snacks and leaves crumb trails alllllll over the house! As a result, I feel like an expert in cleaning floors now. Every day I sweep, once a week I vacuum, and once a week I wash/wipe. I recently learned that it doesn’t take a lot of effort, it just takes the right tools. We received a Small Ball Animal from Dyson, and GUYS, I have to say.. You NEED a new vacuum – here’s why!
To start off I have to admit that I had no idea my house got as dirty as it did before I used the Dyson. We had a little Dirt Devil before the Dyson came to live with us, and it did the job (or so I thought), but it stunk up the house and puffed clouds of dust/smoke all over while it worked. I thought meh, it’s working, so it’s fine. NOPE. Not fine! I mean, I probably don’t have to explain to you that puffing dust and smoke into the air isn’t super healthy or a good idea for your home. I also had no idea at the time that the vacuum was NOT doing the job. It was pushing dust and dirt further into the carpet which just gave it the appearance of clean, without actually cleaning. After we got the Dyson, I vacuumed my living room area rug only TWICE and the dirt you see in the canister in the photo above is what came out. I JUST got the rug around 2 weeks prior! I couldn’t believe it. How did it get so dirty in such a short period of time!?
So I took the Dyson into the basement. Normally I would HATE carrying a vacuum around or up or down the stairs because they’re so heavy and bulky, but the Small Ball Animal is super light and easy to transport. I work out in our basement, which is fully carpeted, so I wanted it to be as clean as my living room rug now was. I plugged my Dyson in and got to work. SHOCKING! All over again I was shocked. It was CRAZY how dirty that carpet was and I had NO idea! Then I used it to brush our long-haired cat, clean my couches, clean the carpeted stairs, and clean the hardwood and tile floors. Yes I did all of that with one machine.
I am a frugal person, but I am also, I believe, an informed consumer. I believe fully that the RIGHT products are worth a little extra money, and that is exactly what the case is for the Dyson line of vacuums. I feel like the clouds have parted and I have seen the light. My chores are no longer going to be seen as a hassle or time-consuming. I just needed the right tool for the job.
The Dyson Small Ball Animal may just be the right tool for the job for your family, too. In our small home, space is at a premium, so the fact that this vacuum is compact and can fit into our kitchen cupboard space is HUGE. It can also do pretty much everything you need! The self-adjusting head can tell the difference between carpeted floors and hardwood/tile. No need to press any buttons or flip any switches. In addition, it has a long cord so you can reach most areas of your home without having to unplug and plug in somewhere else – I can clean our entire main floor without unplugging or worrying about the switch from carpet to hardwood to tile. The vacuum also has an extra long hose, so the machine can reach up to 42ft from the body when fully extended! GASP!
The vacuum also comes with a BUNCH of attachments. Most notably, the grooming tool (which I tested out on our long-haired cat, much to her dismay), the tangle-free turbine tool (ideal for cleaning dirt and hair in confined spaces, such as your couch, without worry of tangles), and the stiff bristle brush (the stiff bristles work away at caked on or dried up mud and dirt). When I said it’s the right tool for the job, I should have said JOBS.. any job. It handles them all! Mess? There’s an attachment for that!
Last but not least, I love how much quieter the Dyson is than our last vacuum. Both the cat and our toddler would run, terrified of the machine as it puffed smoke all over the house and made angry noises. Not only do I finish cleaning more quickly, but I am less scary when I am doing it. Perfect, because I am no monster. Unless the house isn’t clean, which clearly is never happening again – WINK!
What do you think? Do you agree that you may just need a Dyson now?
