We moved on March 1st, and I have been working hard to put our house together since then. If you follow us on snapchat (thedoitallmama) you may have seen some of the progress – when we moved in it was a MESS! But it’s beautiful now, and I love it so much. I wanted to give you guys a peek inside our home. BUT, it’s not like other blogger home tours. This one is different. Here’s why —
I didn’t wash my dishes and put them away, they were in my sink. My counter is dirty, there’s a pan on the stove top from breakfast. There are things out and things out of place. My bathroom isn’t clean. There are projects all over the house that need to be completed (the kitchen cupboards need painting, the coffee table in the living room needs refinishing). But this is REAL LIFE. My life is just like your life. Sure, I tidied up, but it’s clearly lived in, and it’s a very real look at what our home looks like at the beginning of each day (but definitely not what it looks like at the END of the day, like right now, where it is a complete disaster haha)!
Without further adieu..
This is basically what you see when you walk in the front door. There’s a little nook that I want to turn into a mudroom style entry with hooks and a bench. You may be surprised to learn I actually RENT this home, but the landlord is my mom’s boyfriend of over 10 years, so he’s pretty open to my ideas. I am also refinishing this coffee table. I can’t decide if I should paint it, or stain it. What do you think?
This sign from Between You and Me Signs is my favourite piece in my entire house. Our home is small, but it is perfect, and this quote (which I actually found out is LYRICS!) describes it so accurately. The piece itself is very solid, made of beautiful wood, and finished with incredible attention to detail. I couldn’t recommend this amazing shop more highly. Owners Andy and Tara Lowry are very sweet, and every single sign they create is stunning. I already want more! Check out their Etsy shop here.
This dining room table has a gorgeous wood top, but we were painting and doing other fun projects that week, so we needed to use the table cloth (to keep mama sane and make clean up way easier). I have to refinish the wood top this summer, anyways.
Opposite from the living room is the kitchen. The cupboards are getting painted this summer, I think grey. They’ll also get some new hardware. I’d also possibly like to replace some of the light fixtures.
I have way too many canisters and I can’t decide which ones I love most! AHH.
That day we were soaking our seeds for planting for our learning activities! If you look closely, you can also spy my Lucky Iron Fish hanging out in the window sill. That fish is really cool. You cook with it! It is a carefully formulated health innovation that has been shown to substantially reduce instances of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. And with every fish you buy, a fish is provided to a family in need. One Lucky Iron Fish can provide an entire family with up to 90% of their daily iron intake! Visit the Lucky Iron Fish website for more info. I just love this company and their mission so much.
And this is our tiny, kinda messy bathroom. I need to refinish that mirror (and clean it too, apparently).
Well, that’s the main floor of our home! I did take photos of our bedrooms to share BUT the lighting was really bad (we’ve had way too many grey days here lately..) so I will retake them and share them very soon. I will be sharing details about Bee’s favourite toys as well. So stay tuned!
Here are some of the items you’ve seen above, or similar!
Thanks for joining us for this tour see you soon!!
