Valentine’s Day is rough. I don’t say this because it’s a bad holiday – in fact, I think you should love Valentine’s Day (and here are my reasons why). But I believe it’s rough due to timing. Come February 14th Christmas was less than 2 months ago, so chances are at that point you’ve already exhausted your man’s wish list, and he hasn’t begun writing a new one. You’re out of ideas. I get that.

Enter JORD wood watches.
When JORD contacted me and asked me to try one of their watches, I couldn’t resist. Since I’m not a watch wearer myself, I got one for Mike and he absolutely loves it, and I love it on him. He got the Delmar dark sandalwood and blue carbon watch. Blue is his favourite colour, and the stunning dark wood is easy to match with pretty much any outfit he wears. But trust me when I say it was a TOUGH decision – there are so many amazing watches to choose from.
In my opinion nothing beats the look of a sleek piece of wood, unpainted, just protected and existing in all its natural beauty. That’s something that JORD aims for when designing and creating their watches. They LOVE wood! (You can even read all about each type of wood they use in their products on their website! For example, one of my favourites, Koa, is a species native to Hawaii. I learned that just from the JORD site, and was able to shop Koa watches directly).
Something else I love about JORD is that they genuinely care about sustainability, and I think that’s awesome. There are a lot of companies out there that only care about their bottom line. So it’s really refreshing to see companies who CARE about our planet, sustainability, and responsible production.
Mike mostly wears his on special occasions, but these watches make great every day pieces, too. You can care for them by ensuring they are stored in a safe place. Ideally, the original box (which is also made of wood) OR in a watch/jewelry box, either of which will protect it from a wet or dry environment. You can also keep the wood conditioned with some tung or lemon oil, which you can find at hardware stores or online. By caring for the piece in this way you will ensure the natural beauty and lustre remains for a long time.
If you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day gift idea, or really, a gift idea for any occasion, I urge you to consider a reasonably priced, tough but stunning JORD wood watch. You can also SAVE 10% by using this link to shop!
