Happy New Year! I hope you all had lovely holidays with your families, full of great food and lots of love and happiness.
I welcomed 2016 with my wonderful grandma and little B. After Mike and I went out for a delicious steak dinner he went to see his friends and brothers (we didn’t have a babysitter for the whole night, so I was with B). Grandma and I coloured in adult colouring books and watched the ball drop. As per tradition in my family, B got to try and stay up as late as she could, which apparently was 11pm – impressive. When I was little it was always so fun for me to try and stay up to greet the next year, and many of those years I did so with my grandma. I am so thankful for another New Year’s Eve memory with her, she is one of my most favourite people.
Some highlights for us this year include my photography being featured in Today’s Parent, Mike starting a great new job, and doing some renovations to our house. Brynn turned 2, kicked bottles, potty trained, and her vocabulary and general comprehension skyrocketed. Having a conversation with her is my favourite thing. She is hilarious, imaginative, loving and polite. She surprises and delights me. She challenges me. She warms my heart. She makes me proud. She is my greatest achievement, and she had a GREAT year.
Here are some of my favourite memories from 2015:
In the last few months of this year we suffered some unexpected struggles, but we are doing well. Thankfully nothing we were dealing with affected our holidays emotionally or financially, and we were able to give Brynn a wonderful and happy Christmas, despite any setbacks.
Overall 2015 was a good year, but I am happy to leave it behind. I am looking forward to the fresh start and blank slate that 2016 is offering us, and I’ve welcomed it with open arms.
How do you feel about 2016?
